NCL Epic Video Contest – Win a Free Cruise

I quickly posted the NCL Epic video below in a blog post and asked the Cruise Lines: How do we get more of this?

Winning video receives a cruise for two on Norwegian Epic

MIAMI – October 21, 2010 – Norwegian Cruise Line announces the launch of its “Epic Moments” video contest (www.ncl.com/myepicmoment), where cruisers create short YouTube videos of their vacation on board the line’s newest and most innovative ship Norwegian Epic for a chance to win a Caribbean cruise for two in a balcony stateroom on board the ship.

Cruisers can enter by uploading their vacation videos to YouTube as a video response to the contest overview video by Julie Valeriote, Norwegian Epic’s entertainment director. Every two weeks for the next nine weeks, Norwegian will choose which video is the Epic Moment Semi-Finalist for that period. In mid-February, the 10 semi-finalists will be featured on Norwegian’s YouTube channel and http://www.ncl.com and the public will have a chance to vote for their favorite Epic Moment. The video with the most number of thumbs-up on YouTube will win a seven-day Caribbean cruise for two in a balcony stateroom on Norwegian Epic.

“Freestyle Cruising gives our guests incredible freedom and flexibility on board our ships to enjoy their cruise vacation on their own terms,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line chief executive officer. “Our newest ship, Norwegian Epic, takes Freestyle Cruising to the next level giving countless opportunities for couples, families and solo travelers alike to indulge in vacation moments of a lifetime. We look forward to seeing them come to life through our Epic Moments video contest.”

The first of 10 semi-finalist videos will be chosen on or around November 8, 2010 and will follow with nine more semi-finalists being announced every two weeks. To submit an Epic Moment video, head to www.ncl.com/myepicmoment.

Norwegian Cruise Line and YouTube Partnership Announced

This morning I received a press release announcing the YouTube & Norwegian Cruise Line Partnership.  I almost fell out of my chair due to the timing. I’ve said for years that cruising and social media are like peanut butter and chocolate; two great tastes that taste great together. Cruise vacations are full of passengers creating fun memories captured digitally as photos and videos. 75% of the US hasn’t been on a cruise vacation yet, so the cruise industry has tons of room to grow. YouTube Launches New Travel Channel Powered by Norwegian Cruise Line

Robust channel provides travel ideas and inspiration from experts along with ability to create personalized Freestyle Cruising videos

 

MIAMI – Sept. 8, 2010 – Norwegian Cruise Line today announced it is working with YouTube to power the first-ever YouTube Vacationer, a travel-specific channel within the world’s largest online video site providing vacation inspiration with ideas and advice from well-traveled experts, such as Lonely Planet, National Geographic and Travel Channel. The YouTube Vacationer, www.youtube.com/vacationer, is also interactive, offering visitors a first of its kind opportunity to create their own “Vacation You” video experience and share it with others.

            Norwegian Cruise Line’s signature Freestyle Cruising approach is at the heart of this site, providing users the freedom, flexibility and choice to interact with more than two million combinations of video content enabling them to create and share their own unique Freestyle vacation experience.

When interacting within Norwegian’s “Vacation You” section of the YouTube Vacationer channel, visitors will select from a series of short video clips that tap into their vacation mindset to produce a customized 60-90 second montage of their ideal Freestyle Cruising vacations. Celebrity Century 5nt. Cruise to Jamaica & Grand Cayman

I’m in the airport getting ready to head to Miami for the 8th time this year. Those of you who have been following along know I have had a blessed year. Jess and I cruised 7-nights around Hawaii on the Pride of America. I was one of the first on the Oasis of the Seas for a 2 night inaugural sailing. I’ve toured 4 Carnival ships including the Carnival Liberty and Carnival Freedom. And my personal favorite, I was the lead organizer of the 1st Annual Social Fresh Cruise which is the Premier Social Media Conference at Sea.

Today, I’ll be boarding the Celebrity Century for a 5-night cruise with stops in Jamaica and Grand Cayman. This will be my first Celebrity Cruise Line experience so I am very excited. In full disclosure, this is a work trip. I will be teaching a Social Media class to other Travel Professionals. So, I am not paying for the trip, but it is in not what I would consider free as I will hopefully be earning my keep.

While in Jamaica we will be doing the Dunn’s River Falls tour and in Grand Cayman we will be swimming with the Stingrays at Stingray Island. Grand Cayman is a new Island for me and I hear it is beautiful. I will be posting videos on the CruiseSource TV Channel on YouTube. Follow along to see the Celebrity Century for yourself. Oasis of the Seas – Recap

Oasis of the Seas, 2 day Inaugural – it has already been a week since I disembarked from the Oasis of the Seas, but I haven’t been able to put into words my final impressions of the Oasis of the Seas. Part of the issue is that I was only on the ship for 2 days. I did not get to experience all that she had to offer. The Oasis of the Seas is the first ship where I feel like you need a full 7 days to really get to experience everything.

A lot of my focus while on the Oasis of the Seas was visiting as many of the 37 category of staterooms as possible. We all love options, but the Oasis of the Seas’ many choices for staterooms can be daunting to even the most seasoned cruiser. So I have the Royal Loft Suite, Aquatheater Suite, Boardwalk Balcony, and Owners Suite on video for you to see for yourself. The Boardwalk and Central Park Balcony Staterooms offer a cruising experience never before seen. The staterooms are just the tip of the iceberg of the innovations found on the Oasis of the Seas.

The AquaTheater, Sportsdeck, Rising-Tide Bar, Royal Promenade, Central Park, and the Adult Vitality Spa are all amazing. My favorite spot on a cruise ship, the Casino has a nice poker room with two electronic Poker Machines that each sat 9 players. The Casino is loaded with 470 slot machines and plenty of table games.

The Oasis of the Seas is currently catching a premium price, which I think will continue to go up. The Oasis of the Seas is not like any other ship at sea and the price is going to reflect the difference. Each time the ship unloads, there will be 1000s of new people who are going to be ambassadors for the Oasis spreading the word about the amazing experience. If you are looking to book the Oasis of the Seas for 2010, I recommend booking it now. If the rate were to drop after you book it, we can get you the lower rate. But I anticipate the rate going up until 2011 after the Allure of the Seas hits the market.

I could write a book about all of the innovations on the Oasis of the Seas and still would not able to do her justice. You can watch the videos and get a better since of the WOW, but until you are experience the Oasis of the Seas yourself; you will not fully grasp the INCREDIBLE that is the Oasis of the Seas.

Carnival Freedom and Liberty Penthouse Suites Video

Here are the videos from the tours of the Penthouse suites of the Carnival Freedom (built 2007) and Liberty (built 2004). Since they are sister ships, the cabins are very similar. The Carnival Freedom has been updated with the Flat Screen TVs. Carnival Penthouse Suites compared to other cruise line suites are very reasonable in price, but not near as immaculate as the top-level suites on other cruise lines.
